TGF was litigation counsel to the receiver, RMS Richter Inc., in the Norshield hedge fund scandal involving tracing and attempted recovery of over $400 million in several jurisdictions. This was a complex case involving multiple cross-border proceedings in the United States, Barbados and the Bahamas.
TGF assisted the receiver in the investigation of the fraud and the aggressive prosecution of efforts to recover the diverted funds. This involved representing the receiver in numerous Ontario court proceedings and engaging and instructing counsel in multiple jurisdictions in an attempt to unravel the complex web of entities created to conceal the diverted funds.
