Bio

Shurabi is a member of our Restructuring and Litigation practice groups, bringing a distinctive combination of legal and business expertise to the firm. She began her career at TGF as a summer student and later completed her articles, following which she was hired as an associate lawyer.  Shurabi has quickly become a valuable member of the team due to her business acumen, exceptional drafting skills, and meticulous attention to detail.

Shurabi holds an MBA from Ivey Business School, where she built a solid foundation in business strategy and operations. Her diverse professional background includes experience across various industries, such as manufacturing, consumer goods, and non-profit organizations. Before transitioning to law, Shurabi served as a business development manager for a German manufacturing company, working across the United States and Canada. In this role, she honed her skills in negotiation and business development, which she now adeptly applies to her legal practice.

During law school, Shurabi actively engaged in several key initiatives, gaining hands-on experience in client advocacy as a caseworker at Community Legal Services. She also contributed as a student researcher for the Canadian United States Legal Institute, focusing on cross-border legal issues. Shurabi's negotiation skills were further demonstrated by her success as a finalist in the Entertainment Negotiation Moot and the Torys Negotiation Competition. Her academic achievements were recognized with the Canadian Bar Insurance Association Scholarship, awarded to the top student in their first year of legal studies in the joint JD/MBA program at Western University.

Shurabi is dedicated to leveraging her diverse skill set to provide innovative and strategic legal solutions, seamlessly blending her legal expertise with a deep understanding of business dynamics.

Representative Mandates

During her time at TGF to date, Shurabi has been involved on teams representing clients in the following matters:

  • Assisted The World Bank with mandates that involved reviewing and refining insolvency laws across various Caribbean countries. This required a comprehensive analysis of existing legal frameworks and the development of strategic recommendations to modernize and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of insolvency processes in the respective regions.

     

  • Counsel to the applicants in the CCAA proceedings of Eastern Meat Solutions Inc. and its affiliates, representing a group of privately held companies involved in procuring and distributing meat products and providing food processing services.
